Illegal drugs have led to a dramatic increase in criminal activity. This is true for most surrounding counties as well. Yet, our officers make far below the hourly rates of every other county that surrounds Decatur. We must find a way to properly compensate our officers who place themselves in danger to protect us and our properties.

Great communities have areas where the citizens can relax and enjoy the outdoors. In Decatur County we are blessed to have several locations to camp, play, fish, swim, walk, jog and explore, such as Beech Bend Park & Campground.
The Joint Economic Development Commission Board (JEDC) is tasked with researching and exploring all options concerning the economic health of Decatur County. This board met with the Chamber of Commerce in a joint luncheon on March 28th at the Parsons Centre. The Ayers Education Foundation presented its plans to build a headquarters building and conference center in Parsons. Mr. Jim Ayers was on hand to show members the blueprints and explain the new opportunities for our community with this center.
The Commission met on Saturday, April 2 in a special planning meeting to discuss the state of the County and its facilities. Mayor Creasy presented information on the need to repair and update many of our public access buildings and parks.

The Spring flooding has drastically curtailed tourism throughout the Tennessee River Valley. Counties ans companies are working to repair and clean up from the devastating flood damage.
Decatur County's riverfront properties have been affected and will be closed until cleanup is completed to guarantee safety for our visitors.
